5 things to know about Indonesian singer Agnez Mo whos making a name for herself in the US Indonesian pop-R&B singer-actress Agnez Mo, formerly known as Agnes Monica, is one of the Asian entertainers making a name for themselves in the United States, according to Huffington Post. But even though she only released her first international single Coke Bottle, featuring Timbaland and T.I., in 2013, shes not exactly new to the entertainment industry. Here are five things you need to know about the Jakarta-born singer: 1) She started young The 28-year-old Mo released her first album when she was six years old, a childrens album titled Si Meong. She released eight other albums since then. 2) She acts too Mo began acting in soap operas Lupus Millenia and Mr Hologram when she was a teenager. Her breakout role was in Indonesian TV series Pernikahan Dini. In 2005, Mo appeared in the Taiwanese drama, The Hospital, co-starring with Taiwanese boyband F4 member, Jerry Yan. 3) Shes the most-awarded Indonesian singer Mo has received 85 awards, both local and international. They include seventeen Anugerah Musik Indonesia, eight Panasonic Awards, four MTV Indonesia Awards, an Anugerah Planet Muzik Awards and two Best Asian Artist Awards. She also won the Favorite Actress awards at the 2003 Panasonic Awards and 2004 SCTV Awards. 4) She holds on to her culture In Coke Bottle music video, Mo wears the traditional Indonesian kebaya. The reason she donned that outfit was because when she first left her country, she was told that Indonesian pop stars cant make it out of Asia. When I said I want to win my first Grammy, I want to go international, they started thinking how arrogant I was to even say that, Agnez said in an interview with Global Grind. In a separate interview with Dope Magazine, she said: I wanted to show them that yes, Im from Indonesia. I never said that its going to be easy but once you set your goal, you kind of just have to believe and try to make it happen. 5) She likes to keep fit Mo shares fitness advice and tips with her fans on social media. She is so passionate about keeping fit that she even has a separate Instagram account @Myfitnezdiary, for photos of her gym progress and healthy meals. I dont see diet and exercise as a means to get to a certain target; I see it as building and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, she says on her Tumblr page. When asked whats the one workout mistake people most often make, she said: I still sometimes catch myself doing it, but it’s LOUSY FORM of movement or not doing the full range of motions. It wastes time and can lead to injuries. When we are tired, we tend to compromise the form, and that is one thing we shouldn’t be doing. Never sacrifice the form.
