5 things you need to know this morning General Motors is under fire after a bombshell in the companys ignition switch recall. Emails released by the courts show the automaker knew the switches were faulty two months before telling the federal government. Replacement switches were ordered, but not discussed in either Congressional or GM-funded investigations. GM officials say they have since fixed breakdowns in its safety investigation process. Detroit has the dubious distinction of being the murder capital of America. The FBI reports 316 people were murdered in Detroit last year for a rate of 45 homicides per 100-thousand residents. Comstock Township is missing three 500-pound snowplow blades. The blades and a 17-foot trailer were stolen overnight on October 29th. The blades were stored outside a barn at the transfer station. Anyone with information is asked to call the Kalamazoo County Sheriffs Office. More companies are trying to hire veterans. A recent study by CareerBuilder shows that almost one-third of employers say they are actively recruiting veterans to work for them. Thats up from about 20-percent a year ago.
