5 years ago and still remembered like it was yesterday. As well as thanking our Coastguard colleagues from flank teams and Liverpool MRCC who worked alongside us during the horrendous floods of 2009, wed like to make sure every emergency service that responded to this disaster gets the recognition it deserves. We all readily recognise Cumbria Police. Cumbria Fire and Rescue, NWAS, RAF Search and Rescue, but they were not the only ones responding to the call for help. We worked alongside our colleagues from the RNLI, MARYPORT INSHORE RESCUE, Mountain Rescue, RSPCA and many ive probably forgotten here including the countless volunteers who just turned up and offered their help.. We should also thank those who responded to the clean up effort and the utility companys that worked to restore the services lost during this awful time for Cumbria. Its during times of adversity that the best comes out in people. That will never be forgotten. 24/7/365 Always on call.
