5 years to the day I got diagnosed with diabetes and had to be kept in hospital, at first I thought it was the worst thing ever and thought id be unable to eat anything, until my doctors and nurses explained it to me, but tbh, I wouldnt wish diabetes on anyone, its hard at times, like when Im eating out with friends or family, they can just have their dinner normally, but before my dinner I have to check my blood sugars then give myself an injection of insulin according to how many carbs Im about to eat, which also means carb counting... Then theres hypos! Hypos honestly feel like Ive had about 70 vodka shots, I feel shakey, dizzy, get a headache and often sweat! But now that Im pregnant I dont just have myself to look after, I have the baby too, and thats been a wake up call, while trying to look after my diabetes for my pregnancy Ive had at least 10 hypos, dont think anyone realises how hard it is to have diabetes until they have it, so next time someone says something as pathetic as go eat chocolate and die or youre lying about your diabetes (which are things that have honestly been said) think about what youre saying... Rant over!
