50 Greatest MCs... #43....Camron /Diplomats With most things, time is usually the ultimate judge on your legacy or what certain things meant when it happened.. Sometimes it increases and sometimes it decreases. Which leads me to my next crew who 5 years ago wouldve ranked higher on my list.. They were a movement.... unquestionable but as time has moved on this crews legacy is somewhat cloudy.... they made great music and inspired a whole generation of MCs but with all the beefs.... internally and with other artist leaves one to the ultimate question... Exactly how great were these guys.... you saw alot of promise, platinum and gold records, an expanding crew... even though no official what I would consider a certified classic album .. they put out to the least some very good works.... It would have appeared at the time that diplomats or at least a member of the crew would have achieved the same success as a lil Wayne or Ross etc.... Its almost at this point they are an afterthought.... although I have the up mist respect for this crew of Harlem MCs ... when placed amongst hiphops elite its hard pressed to say that they really pushed the genre to new heights.... but they most definitely did leave their mark on the culture...
