50 YEARS AGO. "From Russia With Love" -- released 50 years ago this summer -- was the second James Bond film to star Sean Connery, and perhaps my favorite Bond film. Soviet consulate clerk Tatiana Romanova (pictured) was modeled on Krystyna Skarbek (aka Christina Granville), a real-life Polish intelligence agent with whom author Ian Fleming allegedly had an affair. Skarbek was stabbed to death in London in 1952 under mysterious circumstances. Read her Wikipedia entry for details of her wide-ranging espionage career.
