50% of HH votes have been generated from one region, Southern Province, and 30% of his votes have been generated from western regions of Zambia while there rest of 20% have been generated from across Zambia, in the case of Edgar, he generated a bulk of his votes from Lusaka, parts of central province and the copper-belt, are that are culturally, ethnically and socially heterogeneous; at the same time Edgar generated significant votes from northern, luapula and parts of Muchinga province- this are areas not associated with Edgar s tribe; from areas that are associated with his tribe Edgar generated higher votes but not as high as the manner HH generated votes from Southern Province - areas associated with HH tribe. If the voting pattern in Southern Province had not been influenced by a visibly tribal element, HH could have been leading by 60% of the votes in Southern Province and he could have in turn lost to Edgar by a margin of about 20% in instead of a margin of 1-5%.
