50 … (shit…… LOL) For my 50th Birthday, I decided to post a photograph of myself … pretty much the way I came into the world, 50 years ago today, (except in the picture I am wearing Essie’s GunMetal Nail Polish and just a hint of Chanel Number 5 across my body…) LOL! No makeup, no clothes, no hair gel, no jewelry … just me. It is funny. As an 8 or 10 year old, I often pictured myself at the age of 50 ... I would be a regular at the Beauty Salon each Friday, getting a “Wash and Set”. At 50, I would be wearing sensible shoes, a girdle, an apron, vacuuming the carpets daily, wearing a string of pearls. At 50, I would be babysitting grandkids on Saturday night, golfing at the Country Club, playing “Bridge” with the “ladies who lunch.” At 50, I figured I’d be settled, I’d have it all figured out. Not even close… Instead, at 50 …. I still feel like a kid, inside. I still want to run and play and get dirty. I still get emotional when I watch Linus tell Charlie Brown “what Christmas is all about” and when the Grinchs’, “small heart grew three sizes that day.” I still roll down the windows in my car and blast “Queen” or “Soundgarden” or “Herman’s Hermits” or even “Bobby Darin” on a beautiful day and sing along…. And at 50 … I still want my mom and dad… I don’t have it all figured out. I don’t even know what the question is, never mind the answer. And I’m beginning to understand … that I never will. Here I am at 50. And honestly, I am still the same as I was at the age of 10, 20, 30 and 40. “Incredibly sarcastic, extremely physical, always smiling, very giving and just a little bit lost…”
