50 years ago conservatives applauded this speech. For the 50 years between this speech and today, the Republican Party has scrupulously avoided addressing the concerns outlined in this speech. Now again is a time for choosing. Will conservatives spend the next 50 years lying to themselves and electing Republicans who say conservative words while passing progressive laws? Or will they finally begin to throw off the GOP yoke, seek out and support men and women who are actually willing to work to put our government back under the Constitution?
