50 years ago today...JFK was already a saint in our Irish catholic family and when my mother and sisters heard the news, if was as if it was the end of the earth. I was attending Catholic school, St. Edmunds, the Mother superior came on the pa and made the announcement barely keeping her composure ...our nun broke out in tears and dismissed the class. When I got home the entire family was gathered around the tv in shock. It was my first experience of world shock and grief...it was not to be the last...9/11, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King, and John Lennon to name a few were to follow in my life time.
