50 years ago tonight, September 17th, 1964, ABC-TV premiered/debuted a television show that would become one of the most legendary iconic television shows of the 1960s, Bewitched, with the episode, I Darren, Take This Witch Samantha, with the star of the show being the gorgeous Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha Stevens, card-carrying, broom-riding, cauldron-stirring witch married to a mortal Darren Stevens who insists and Samantha agrees (not always well with her various witch and warlock relatives intruding at their residence at Morning Glory Circle) not to use her witchcraft and live the life of a mortal housewife (like that would really happen?) Despite the concept, as well as cast changes including Darren being played by a different actor later in the series run, this show has become one of the most popular and continues to be shows of all-time. But did you know that the theme song of Bewitched had been released as a 45 rpm record or included on albums from various different artists, including two vocal versions, including one that made it to #103 on the Bubbling Under the HOT 100 in Billboard Magazine? Well, its true. And below the image of the title card and title cartoon Samantha on her broom is videos of five different versions (in four videos) of five of those recordings including the one that just missed going into the Billboard HOT 100 charts. The first video is of Billy Costas earliest known instrumental version (that may have been how the theme was suppose to be heard on television, originally) and Peggy Lees vocal version. The next video is of the version of the theme that went to #103 on Billboard Magazines Bubbling Under the HOT 100 by Steve Lawrence. The third and fourth video is of two more instrumental versions, one from Earl Klugh Trio and the other from Jimmy Smith:
