5300m. 2:30 am on the 21st our wonderful porter woke us up with 3 in 1 coffee and muesli. Crawling out of our down sleeping bags after a cold night cuddling our hot water bottles. (Some how I was sprawled across the bottom of the tent??) Dressed in wool, down and all the wonderful warm clothes we had been wearing the last 10 days to base camp and Kala Pattar. Plastic boots, helmets, harnesses, headlamps and ice axe ... time to unzip the tent. We start the first few hours with tecnical rocky, snowy scramble/climbing. Im sure if the sun was up it would have been a little more intense. Alone all I hear is my breath and my footsteps. Then the excitement began. Time to put on the crampons. Steep pitches of snow. Then the fixed lines. I attach my safety and my jumar. Meditation. The sun is starting to rise over Ama Dablam, (the peak for 2015??) kombu glacier and the Everest rage. Base camp is far below. Where I was only a few days prior. The sun starts to warm my near frostbitten toes. Joy! Up to 6119m slowly, keeping my heart rate and breath under control. At 8am I reach the top. Amazing blue bird day. Perfect view. Perfect moment. 20,000ft Thank you everyone for all the support. I am blessed in this life.
