5th September 2013 The behavior of a companion Texts: Psalm 119:63 Memory Verse: ‘I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts’ [Psalm 119:63] Devotional thought: What sort of companion do we call each other if we cannot watch each others back? Devotion Message Hello dearly beloved. We give glory to the God of all other gods for the gift of wisdom and knowledge. We need to understand that we are first Christian before we become a member of our various churches and in heaven we shall all qualify not as a member of your church, whatever name it might be called, but as that of the church of Christ. The Psalmist said he is a companion for anyone that fears the Lord and keep His precept but it is quite alarming to see the way we act towards any kind of attack the devil raise against our brethren because we are not in the same church. Some are nonchalant about it, and even though to be nonchalant in the face of a stiff and serious opposition to the Kingdom of heaven is evil on its own but yet there is a greater evil and that is to readily believe any kind of lies the devil brings against our brethren and even help him to broadcast it. One of the way the devil is attacking great ministries this day is by scandal and before it becomes strong some Christians that did not understand the operation of that ministry or they don’t like it will quickly catch the wind of the story and make issues out of some non-issues. When your brethren is either in problem or scandal how do we react to it? This is not the issue of whether the news is true or not but what do you wish for the person. Who is a companion? I reckon that anyone that has ever given his or her life to Christ and have just decided that he’s accepted to be called your companion. How do we react to your companion’s mistake? The same way you would to your friends’ mistake. If you are my companion and I made mistake, I expect to not be happy about it but it’s like some of us act as if our dream has just come true, and after we are not happy about it, we are to be looking for ways along with them as we would do with our best friend that finds himself in such situation. We easily go in swiftly to defend any companion and some non companion too that affects or are close too much but other persons would have us to contend with alongside their war with Satan just because we are not seeing ourselves as complements in Spirit but everyone wants to show Spiritual superiority and hence we become competitors. If you read the Amplified version of I Corinthians 13, you would find out that one of the definitions of love says love does not believe in evil report about a person but about good. This is saying that if we hear bad report about our brethren we should act like we don’t believe it even though he’s capable of doing it and when we hear good ones we should readily be open to believe it. If other brethren are your companions truly how have you been treating your companions? The Lord of Peace shall give you Peace. Amen PRAYER Lord I need your genuine love in my life. Amen.
