6/12/2014. ॐ श्रीपरमात्मने नमः । HOW NAAM JAP HELPS YOU ATTAIN REALISATION? We saw how the Bhajan has left its spark. The other effective instrument for getting permanent consciousness is Naam Jap. Naam Jap has met with even worse fate than the Bhajan. It seems that the entire attention is shifted on counting the names or Mantras recited. The new element seen added here is the race, in increasing the numbers of Naam Jap made. As far as the Bhajan and Naam Jap are concerned, the emphasis is always on the physical exercise, neglecting the crucial mental and devotional aspect. Here the first principle to be understood is, you can get outer things by outer efforts, and inner things by inner effort. Your extrovert efforts can’t avail you the inner splendour. Parmatma is inner splendour, so your trillions of outer efforts will not suffice to reach Parmatma. One more thing to mention here is your mortal tools and appliances can avail you mortal things only. To attain the eternal bliss you must deploy the eternal tools. Now let us clear what are mortal as well as external tools. The Body, mind, intellect, ego, the sense organs, etc are mortal as well as external tools, and whatever you do with the help of these tools can avail you mortal and external things only. Bhajan and Naam Jap done as a physical act fall in this category. Parmatma is immortal, the eternal, the endless, unborn, uncaused, incessant, beginningless, all pervasive, omnipresent, unlimited and ever-present, so mortal tools and extrovert efforts can at most help you understand that they are not useful in attaining Parmatma. The whole bulk of world’s all religious scriptures are to preach one and only one thing in common is, realisation is inner journey and aspirant has to find way and attain it on his own, and they are here only just to suggest this eternal simple truth. Said this we shall explore how Bhajan and Naam Jap were once very useful instruments in Realisation of Parmatma. In the west if anyone meets you, he or she greets you with good-morning or good-evening or the sort. Where as in east we greet each person with Jay Shri Krishna, or Jay Ramji ki, or Hari Om or the sort. Since our birth we are doing this without knowing the psychological evolving and spiritual importance contained in it. When you say Jay Shri Krishna, or you recite the name of Krishna with Maala, it is implied to say that you have all potentiality in you to become Krishna. When you recite the Krishna name in Bhajan, it is implied to imbibe that you are full of potentiality of becoming Krishna, and you are on the path of becoming Krishna. This continuous remembrance in the aspirant one day turns him into Krishna. There is theory of Kitak-Bhramar Nyaya. The female wasp catches insect and detains it in the mud hole. The wasp periodically comes to the hole and bites the insect. The insect gets tremendous pain in bite and every moment keeps brooding that the wasp will come and bite; the wasp will come and bite, so much so that it turns into wasp. This is called Kitak-Bhramar Nyaya. Same way when you every moment brood that you have all potentiality to become Krishna, and you are here with sole intention of becoming Krishna, you one day know that you are not body, sense organs, mind, intellect, ego, chitta, but you are eternal Existence. Reciting Bhajan and Chanting Naam Jap are intended to invoke this necessary vigil in aspirant. Only physical chanting will not help if you don’t know the psychological impetus behind it. So your incessant chanting simply means you have to remember every moment that you are that eternal Parmatma, whose name or Bhajan you are chanting. If you don’t have this essential motive in mind, and just do it physically and mechanically, it will not help you much. It is like wasting elixir by pouring it in the desert sand instead of drinking it. So Bhajan and Naam Jap both are very effective tools to attain continuous awakening if done properly. . हरिः ॐ तत् सत् ।
