6 MiG-25Rs have flown from Rostov-on-Don to the Russian Base at Kapkun, Turkmenistan. 3 then refuelled and flew to the Caspian Sea, inline with the border between Iran and Turkmenistan. The MiG-25Rs flew the length of the border, 5km in on the Iranian side, and photographed all those Iranian artillery positions. The other 3 flew to the furthest south but of the border and flew north along the border that way. If they were told to leave they waited until the 2nd warning, flew into Turkmenistan territory, and then returned.
