6 “To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others: 17 “‘We played the pipe for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’ 18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.” Some times I wonder if we really know God. I have sat and looked around in a place of worship in search for Christ in the midst. To my disappointment I come out empty most of the time. I dont want to sound like I am judging my brothers and sisters, but perhaps, my understanding and the image I have of Christ is not quite clear to me. Christ gives us an illustration of two separate occasions and actions to emphasis two very different approaches taken to get the attention of perhaps the same group of people, but in both cases the these people chose to ignore the calling. Can we honestly say that we would be able to recognize Christ if He would be in the market place or in our place of worship or even at our homes and family. I would like to say yes, but I am not so sure that I would be for certain. We are so wrapped up in our own little world that some times it takes a while for us to realize that part of our family is hurting and we dont have to ears to hear the silent cries that have been going on for some time. Some times it seems that our focus is on the here and the now and not the work for the Kingdom. Our family could be in pain and we miss it. My question for us is, how many times have we missed on the opportunity to see Christ in the face of our family. If He would say when I was hungry, you gave me food, perhaps, He would say when my heart was aching, you helped me healed. Not a guilt trip, I promise, but how often do we look for Christ in the faces of our own? My prayer for us is that we would seek Him, that we would find Him In our brothers and sisters. Lets dace with those who rejoyse because they have gain their righteousness, and mourn with those that have yet come home or have lost their way. For us that put our Trust In Him, our Joy would be to find Him. Amen.
