6 months ago, this lil baby of mine decided to greet the world butt first. Thanks to a wonderful doctor whos not only willing to help me with my breech vbac, she was also there for my babys first latch, minutes after put on my chest. I had inverted nipples, and when it protrudes its big and both my kids have very tiny mouth. But that did not dampens my spirit to DL my baby, as I know I dont want to go back to being an EPmom. Despite many mistakes; day three started pumping and gave bottle, I didnt give up. After two trials, my dd finally 100% DL. One side only, as the right one when it protrudes, its not long. But I still believe I can do it. I slowly, patiently introduce the right (.) after a month or so, I dont have to pump any longer. Finally upgraded myself from being EP. I now nurse anywhere, anytime, right from the source. My advice for all mommies or mommies-to-be who wants to successfully breastfeed their babies: 1. When you feel like youre failing, seek assistance or support. thats what this group is for. Dont suffer in silence. 2. Listen and accept advices. Dont feel like you are being bashed or people are belittling you. Though some mommies can sound harsh but if its the truth then just take it with a pinch of salt. 3. If you made a mistake, its ok. Were human after all. Read on what to do so you can mend it. Cant find the answer? Ask around. 4. Keep your friends that had successfully breastfed their babies close, ask them anything. Nothing is silly, ask away. I know theyll be happy to know you are trying your best to give the best for your baby. 5. Though breastfeeding may sound easy, but its challenging especially for some of us who has inverted nipples, so the key is perseverance. The storm will pass, so hang on!! 6. Last but not least, a good start will make it easier. No matter if its cesarean birth or natural birth, immediately put her on your chest. When the first thing she know is breast=food, InshaaAllah, shell never forgets. A special thanks to my one special friend, who when visiting me after i gave birth to my first baby 3 years ago scolded me as she saw me giving formula milk. Though I initially was taken aback by it, but I know shes being a great friend. Because she knows how much I wanted this. So, heres to her (if she reads this, haha you know who u r) and to all brave mommies who speak up their mind about giving babies the best milk. BREASTMILK.
