6 week count down to Lone Oak Campsites 50th Anniversary Celebration. Story Time Saturday: Question of the week: What was Lone Oak before it was a campground? Before it was a campground, Bucky Brown owned the Lone Oak Farm. The campground’s lands were corn and hay fields, since the dairy farm was across the street and getting cows across the road can be a hassle! The fields down Brown’s Lane were used as cow pastures since it was just behind the cow barn. The pastures are now used as corn fields, and the corn field is now Lone Oak Campsites! Bucky inherited the land from his father, and his father bought it from the Warner family in 1918.
