6 years ago today, right at this moment I was receiving the news from our Geneticist that changed my entire world. As devastating as the past 6 years have been, they have also been filled with love and support. For all that we lost on this morning 6 years ago, we gained the most amazing new family of Rett parents, sisters, brothers, grandparents, godparents and friends. As I mentioned last night, the friends and family that chose to remain by our side stand strong and hold my girls and I up when it feels like we cant stand any longer. My Brianna has become her sisters keeper, advocate, nurse, champion, protector and so much more - she does it every single day with so much love. My Olivia . . . everyday I watch her live her life filled with determination and so much drive to do all that we take for granted. She loves her life and when she starts to giggle, you cant help but to crack up because her giggle is so infectious. She has changed our world, she teaches us every day what determination looks like. Both of my girls are my heroes. So, as hard as today is and as emotional as it will be, I hold my head up proudly because we are 6 years past the scariest and darkest days of our lives. My daughter has Rett syndrome but Rett syndrome does NOT have my daughter. I will continue fighting for a cure because she fights every day to stand up and walk, she fights every day to pick up her sippy to take a drink . . . because SHE FIGHTS EVERY DAY TO BE WHO SHE IS. I love you Olivia Emma, to the moon and back times infinity. Thank you all so much for your prayers, words of encouragement and your support. It means more than you will ever know!
