6-yr-old girl among seven persons savaged in dog attack Srinagar: A little six year old girl was ruthlessly mauled by savage dogs while the pack of dogs also attacked at least six persons including an elderly man in Diyarwani Batamaloo area of Srinagar city on Saturday. Onlookers watched in horror on Saturday late afternoon as little girl Madhiha Ayaz was tossed around like a rag doll being viciously savaged by a rabid animal. Eyewitnesses told CNS that a pack of dogs particularly a rabid black dog pounced upon Madhiha Ayaz (6) when she was on way to her religious seminary. The dogs mauled her face, leg, groin and arm and according family sources, no vaccine was available at SMHS hospital for her treatment. “I shifted my poor daughter to SKIMS and to my surprise, here too no vaccine was available to treat dog bitten patients,” Ayaz Ahmed said. Reports said that soon after the incident the pack of dogs in the same area attacked at least five persons including an elderly man who were also shifted to hospital. The locals identified them Abdul Salam Hakim (60), Ali Muhammad Dar (40), Abdul Manan (18), Nisar Ahmed (20), Tasleema Bano (32). Locals staged a massive protest against Srinagar Municipal Corporation and alleged that authorizes are more interested in animal rights than protecting the lives of humans. “There are at least six dogs particularly a black dog that attack people especially children. If SMC fails to take care of them then we will kill them one by one ourselves,” a resident of Diyarwani Batamaloo told CNS. As usual Commissioner SMC, Dr Qasba was busy in an ‘important’ meeting and did not respond to repeated phone calls.
