64 Amazonian experts and academicians criticize the Ethnobotanical Stewardship Councils attempt to regulate the use of the sacred medicine Ayahuesca. When we (westerners) start to interfere with Indigenous way of life, and try to regulate their spiritual and beliefs systems for the sake of our safety and on the ground of sustainability (which are nothing more than empty arguments to legitimate ill defined issues), it can only have the same disastrous effects on Indigenous populations than the ones carried out by incompetent anthropologists and soul-thirsty evangelists throughout the last century. The thing is we do not know better than the people who have used this sacred medicine for hundreds of years. We should adapt to them if we want to benefit from their technology and wisdom and not the opposite. We should also respect the context in which these medicines are used.
