65 miles of driving today. 23 down to Horseneck Beech to collect 31 gallons of seaweed to fertilize my garden. I brought five 5-gallon buckets and one 6-gallon. By the time I got there, I mis-remembered it as five buckets, so I took just one on the first trip from the parking lot, not wanting to get stuck with more than I could carry. Turned out I could take two at a time, so I needed a fourth trip. Estimated walking: 1.25 miles, half of it carrying full buckets. Then 22 miles to Market Basket with a stop at a new seafood market in Westport on the way. Bought a rather impressive amount of stuff for $63, including 1.4 lbs of lean chuck steak, 24 oz of Peets coffee, 2 lbs of fresh mozzarella, 1 lb of deli turkey, 2 lbs of mussels, 1.3 lbs of littleneck clams, 2 pomegranates, 4 lbs sugar, 5 lbs bread flour, a loaf of oatmeal pane, a cauliflower, 2 lbs of organic pizza dough, and a few other miscellaneous items. Then another 20 miles home. Now to spread the seaweed in the dark.
