68 years ago today a japanese sub launched a torpedo which broke the USS INDIANAPOLIS in half. 1200 men went into the water 369 were rescued. This topic fascinated me for a while due to the fact that all those that died were eaten by sharks. I read a book by a survivor who told of trying to wake his buddy only to have him flip over and the lower half of his body had been eaten. There werent enough lifeboats deployed because the incident happened so fast. The men created circles, linking arms and most with only life preservers on. The authors depiction of the color of the water was very graphic. Its a story you should read sometime. The largest number of american soldiers killed basically by sharks in american history.
