This weekend the Fox Chase soccer club celebrates its 50th anniversary as a youth athletic program in the city of Philadelphia. We would like to thank the city, the department of recreation, our councilman Brian ONeill and every player and parent who has been on our fields, cheered on their children. This organization was founded by a group of volunteers who loved the game and also wanted to make sure the youth of fox chase had an outlet to play. To all our current volunteers, you are continuing a great tradition! This year we have over 25 intermural teams, over 25 travel teams and both a men and womans team. Our intermural indoor program is second to none. Lets not forget the future starts in the futures program. We have second and even third generations of coaches from some families, and the grandchildren of people who have played in the club when they were kids. We have never produced a world cup player or any players in the current MLS, but we produced educators, doctor, lawyers and moms and dads. We are even prouder of those accomplishments.. We have raised over $10,000 for the red cross over the years, over $5,000 for the fallen officers fund. And this weekend we are trying to do the ALS ice challenge as a club. We were part of the beginning of the Fox Chase Champions. ( A program for players with special needs). We had teams that have played all over the country and even Canada. We are so grateful for our past and hopeful for our future. If you have ever played for the club in the past this is that time you should come back to the field to visit an old friend. Youll never know who you will run into.
