7-04-2009 The 70th Anniversary of Lou Gehrigs Luckiest Man Alive speech a.k.a. The Gettysburg Address of baseball Ballparks around the country donated $ to various ALS charities & raised awareness for the disease that claimed one of baseballs greatest. I found out about this & immediately contacted the NYC ALSA chapter for tickets. I had a dream of doing something I didnt quite know that I could achieve but my Dads recent ALS diagnoses put a spark in me & I went for it! Called Yankee Stadium & asked who to talk to to have my Dad meet his favorite players..I could tell they thought I was crazy & I let them know that I knew it wouldnt be easy but to give me the information to try. Wrote the letter & put in the mail, yes a mailbox, not an email! haha. I was told it wouldnt be possible &they would send something for him & put his name on the board..boo. I didnt let that get in the way. I contacted friends that had been living in NY & eventually shared it on Facebook as a note (this was back when Myspace was the cool thing & Facebook was kind of boring) A friend from elementary school wrote me 3 days before our trip & said to email the letter & she may be able to help..yelp! She did #goFacebook! Enough blabbing, check out this new little video I put together from that day. I promise it wont disappoint..even if you HATE the New York Yankees I didnt tell anyone other than my Mum that I was writing this letter b/c I didnt want to be doubted.. If you have a dream for yourself or someone else, do everything you can to achieve it. Happy 4th yall!!! #ALS #ALSsucks #LouGehrig #Yankees #NYY #Jeter #75thAnniversary #luckiestmanalive https://vimeo/99953011 please share & raise awareness on this important day The 75th Anniversary of Lou Gehrigs retirement from baseball
