7 1/2 years ago I was a single, brand new nurse, stepping into the Pediatric ICU without a CLUE of what I was getting myself into! Cancer, marriage, 2 dogs, fertility issues and 2 beautiful babies later I say goodbye to the job that has forever changed me. The ups and downs Ive experienced have made me the person I am today and Im grateful for that. Ive seen miracles, helped families come to terms with senseless accidents and been with others as they said their last goodbyes. This has been more than a job. There have been few things that have made me prouder than telling someone Im a PICU nurse...being a mommy though has trumped it all and Ive decided on another path that allows me to have family time on weekends and wake up early with them Christmas mornings after Santa comes. Its a trade I would gladly make again but I will miss the people Ive met along the way more than they will ever know. Thank you to my PICU family. It was an honor to work side by side with the very best ❤️❤️❤️❤️
