7/16/13 BIBLE PASSAGE: 7/16/13 BIBLE PASSAGE (Genesis 1,2,3) From Matthew: King Herod attempted to trick the wise men who intended to bless Jesus Christ. The king wanted the wise men to lead him to the birth location of the Messiah so that he could kill him. Meanwhile, the king’s plot failed, and Jesus Christ lived. Unfortunate, the cruel king still went further to commit mass murder – he killed Jesus age mates. The scripture reported, “…Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men” (Matthew 2:16). Lesson: Jealousy is a ravenous disease that must be treated immediately it is realized. If jealousy is not controlled, it may lead someone to make irreparable mistakes. Therefore, all children of God must pray and ask God to help them to overcome the jealousy. We are to ask God to let his Holy Spirit reign in hearts. Prayer: God please help me to destroy the spirit of jealousy that might be attempting to perpetrate into my life. Fill and empower me with your Holy Spirit so that I can overcome the temptations of the devil. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
