7/19/2013 - Saxonburg Man Wants Bail To Be Reduced - Click here to print this information The Butler lawyer for the man accused of covering a 7-year-old with flammable liquid then letting his son set the young boys shirt on fire wants a judge to lower his bail. Edwards Myers, 35, from Saxonburg, also allegedly shot the 7-year-old with airsoft guns and used his cell phone to film the attack and burning. He remains in the Butler County Prison on $250,000 bail. Myers attorney, Jerry Cassidy of Butler, will go before Butler County Judge William Shaffer this morning at 10:30 a.m. to ask for a bond reduction. Cassidy reportedly said his client is not a flight risk because he has deep ties to the community. According to court documents, Cassidy called the $250,000 bail manifestly unreasonable and punitive. The preliminary hearing for Myers is set for July 30 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton in Chicora. The incident happened back in May at Myers home on Carol Drive in Saxonburg. Myers was arrested July 10 after Saxonburg police charged him in connection with the alleged attack.
