7/28/14 - Morning Update Overnight we received 0.42 of rainfall - TopicsExpress

7/28/14 - Morning Update Overnight we received 0.42 of rainfall at HQ from the storms that rolled through. Today were looking at highs in the low 80s, a 20-40% chance of showers or thundershowers, and lows dropping down around 60 degrees this evening. ____________________________________________ Please read and share the following regarding this page and the limited exposure Facebook is allowing it. Because I do not pay to boost my posts, Facebook continues to limit the exposure that my posts get. Yesterday, even with 54 shares and 152 likes, my morning update only reached about 3,500 people out of the over 12,000 people who are trying to follow this page. When I started posting the radar updates, only around 350 people saw each of them. That lack of availability is counter productive to the mission of this page. Therefore, I am going to be restructuring a bit in order to try to get people to go to the website as their primary source of information from Harford County Weather Watch. Facebook is filtering me out of some peoples feeds completely, despite their desire to see content. There is nothing I can do about that. However, if you bookmark the website and check that every day, you will see every post that is made.Additionally, you will get to see animated radar, instead of stationary posts like we have here. There is also a calendar that has a 3-5 day outlook posted on it that is easy to quickly reference. Ultimately, the website is a more complete resource than I can ever make this page. Therefore, I will be posting quick blurbs about the upcoming weather, followed by a link to the website for a full forecast update. I will continue to try to posy watches and warnings, along with radar updates, on Facebook during live events. However, please try to make checking the website part of your daily routine, instead because it is truly more reliable than the delivery through Facebook. Also, if you sign up to be a member of the website, I can directly send you an e-mail regarding watches and warnings. That way you will definitely get the message, instead of possibly getting the notification through Facebook. This frustrating situation is a large part of why I am trying to raise money through the Kickstarter fund. I am hoping to get new equipment and data feeds for more accuracy, but also to develop an app for more reliability in communication. It really made me sad yesterday to see people write that they used to rely on my forecast everyday, but hadnt seen a post from me in weeks or months. I have been posting every day, yet thousands of people have been arbitrarily filtered out by Facebook from getting it because I am a community page that cant afford to boost my posts. I know that some people might be reluctant to go to the website instead of Facebook. However, I can tell you that no one gets your e-mail for signing up for the website. It will only be used to send out important weather notices. Please continue to follow the forecasts, but in a slightly different, but ultimately more reliable location. While I will continue to post on here, the more complete picture will be on the website. It already has been, but many people didnt know. I really dont want anyone to miss out on the information that I am putting out there, especially in serious weather situations. Please understand that my goal is to maintain this community that came together over the last year and a half, especially this past winter. However, that is being made quite difficult here. The website is just another resource for this community. Please she your support for the page by joining the website, participating there, and possibly contributing to the Kickstarter to help fund a more reliable delivery system. Remember, if everyone donated just $1, I would well surpass my goal and have the money available to look into app development across all smartphone and computer platforms. I truly appreciate your support and hope that we can all continue on together in this weather community, despite what Facebook is doing to small pages to make money. Thanks and, as always, have a great day!!! -Pete
