7:45 AM, December 23, 2014. 40° and misting rain. No fancy tennis courts, no roof and I promise you no ROG balls. In my humble opinion this is how champions are made and it is how the game of tennis is grown. As I left my subdivision the Baskin Tennis Academy was beginning drills. And it was not with the highest performance kids. Its so foggy outside that the lights are on and everything about the weather is horrible. No crowds and most people driving by will not notice. When I spoke to my kids in the Polar Bear Camp yesterday I explained somewhere in Russia or somewhere in another country, somebody your age, your size is practicing and Get n gud!. Well, you dont have to go to Russia. The enthusiasm and the efforts of independent pros like Jerry Baskin are where the focus should be on growing the game of tennis. Empower them with freedom and support and know no limits.
