7 DAY SPOTLIGHT - DAY 2 (Dana and Irene: North Light Leaders): Dana Dabek, the Director of Institutional Advancement at North Light may be relatively new to the North Light Community Center but has worked in non-profit organizations her whole career. Originally from South Jersey, Dana moved to Manayunk a few years ago while working in West Philly. She fell in love with the community and wanted to do more than just be a resident. “Where I was living at the time I could see North Light from my front door. I contacted them about volunteering and there happened to an opening for something I knew how to do!” The Executive Director, Irene Madrack, has been working with North Light since 1982. “I saw that and thought wow, that really says something about the organization,” says Dana. “Not only does she know [everyone in Manayunk] but they respect her, love her and want to help her and by extension want to help North Light.
