7 Gambian athletes have been selected by authorities to represent the country in an international cadet (junior) athletics championship to be held in Botswanas capital -Gaborone in May. The selected athletes are: Alieu Joof and Musa Touray of Gambia Senior Secondary School, Fanta Mbye of Muslim Senior Secondary School, Bakary Hydara of St. Augustines Senior Secondary School and national athletes Mariama Mendy, and Fatou Sanneh. This championship will bring together young athletes from different African countries and the winners and qualifiers will later proceed to the world cadet athletics championship in China later this year. The Gambias participation to the event is sponsored by the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC).
