HIMANSHU VYAS/ HT PHOTO Social activist Aruna Roy speaks at the protest meet at Udyog Maidan in Jaipur on Sunday. The activists, who staged a dharna against the JDA move at Udyog Maidan near Statue Circle in Jaipur on Sunday, alleged that the sealing of RSSS premises by JDA was “illegal” and aimed to “please influential people”. Addressing the crowd at the dharna site, social activist Aruna Roy of Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan said the land is controversial and is divided into two parts - one part has private houses and the other part is with the RSSS. “We have learnt that there are 220 plots in Gokul Vatika, of which some belongs of IAS officials and now they are looking for their personal interest,” she alleged. The land has become a prime property, “some people” have their eyes on it, she added. Taking a dig at the Vasundhara Raje and Narendra Modi governments, Roy said, “This is not our government, but of those who are sons of EastIndia. Governments at the centre and in the state are also planning to snatch Jantar-Mantar in Delhi and Udyog Maidan in Jaipur, where protests are being staged.” “We will not stop this fight unless we win. This fight does not end here, but it starts from here,” she added. RSSS president Sawai Singh said, “The institute was constituted in 1953 and was working continuously on various social issues till June 7, 2014. We had purchased this land. Even then, the JDA re- allotted the land reducing two bighas from it in 2003.” “The stir will continue till the land is returned,” he added. Former state Congress chief Dr Chandrabhan, who was also present on the occasion, said, “We are with Roy and will support the movement.” State Congress secretary Archana Sharma and councillor Umar Daraz were also present. Speaking on the occasion, Communist Party of India state member Nisha Sidhu said the present state government is “the government of land mafia” and people voted for it “under illusion”. In a memorandum submitted to chief minister Vasundhara Raje, the activists have urged to hand over the land back to RSSS. Gandhi Peace Foundation president Radha Bhatt in a letter to Raje has urged to review the issue with sensitivity, as “the institute carries an invaluable legacy and closing it will not be in people’s interest”. It may be recalled here that the JDA had cancelled the land allotment to RSSS on June 6 and sealed its premises. The Rajasthan PreMedical Test (RPMT) 2014 will be held on July 27 and the results will be announced on August 1. The state government has issued a notification in this regard following a Supreme Court order. The RPMT-2014 will be held under the supervision of Dr Narpat Singh Shekhawat, principal of Rajasthan University of Health Sciences College of Medical Sciences. The notification stated that the RPMT- 2014 will be held offline through OMR sheet at six examinations centres -Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner and Kota. To ensure transparency in the test, there will be three copies of OMR sheet: the first will be used for making the examination result, the second one will be kept as office record and the third copy will be for the students. However, equipercentile formula will not be used for making the results and the actual marks scored by the candidate will be the base to calculate the merit. According to the Supreme Court order, only those students who had applied earlier could take the exams, and no new application will be taken for the RPMT-2014. The question papers will be allotted at the district headquarters under the supervision of Dr Shekhawat. Prior to the exam, the papers will be kept at the strong room of the treasury under police security. The supervision teams will work under the monitoring of the district collectors and senior RAS officers of the concerned districts. Bharatiya Janata Party state president Ashok Parnami, also an MLA from Adarsh Nagar assembly constituency, is known for his teamwork and dedication in the party. A science graduate Parnami was one of the nominated candidates from India for the World Mayor Contest in 2006 and he finished on seventh position. This is his second stint as MLA. He was also Jaipur Mayor and held many important positions in the state BJP organisation in the past. In an interaction with Team HT, he spoke on party organisation and a host of other issues. Excerpts: Any plan for overhauling the party’s organisational structure? An exercise of restructuring the organisation is in pipeline and the process will be completed by this monthend. Changes will be made from top to bottom keeping in mind the hard work done by workers, especially in the last two elections - assembly and Lok Sabha. We have identified the workers who have worked hard and they will be given chance in the organisation. To what extent women and youth will be given opportunity in the state organisation? The party’s vote percentage has increased by 12%, in which youth participation was maximum. We will ensure 33% women participation across the state in the organisation and good chance to youth also. RSS and BJP work separately. It’s just that our ideology matches. Only one organisational general secretary has been appointed from the RSS. With party government in state and centre, what will be the role of organization? BJP will work as a bridge between government and people. Congress is continuously alleging that BJP is trying to stop propeople schemes like refinery, metro and free medicine. What you have to say on this? It was chief minister Vasundhara Raje who brought refinery scheme, while Congress in haste, without looking to the interest of state people, signed memorandum of understanding. Refinery is a huge investment, but Congress signed the MoU without negotiation. For Metro, we have allotted money. We are not against Metro, but the money should come from the central government, as the state does not have so much There were many factors for our win including Narendra Modi’s leadership, people’s comparison of previous tenure of Raje with Congress government, inflation, law and order situation and employment. Political appointments on boards and commissions are still awaited. When will it be done and how much will be the organisation’s say in this? It is chief minister’s job. She is aware of workers and their potential. Soon, the appointments will be made. With BJP in power with huge majority, expectations of the party workers are very high. Will you be able to fulfil all the demands? If the demands are valid then it will be fulfilled. Party workers coming with valid demands of people will be taken up and we will make all efforts to fulfil them. The party will act as a bridge between the people and the government. Party’s principle is Yes, one man, one post is being strictly followed and at present no one is holding two posts. It is being felt that the government in last six months has done nothing. What do you say? I do not agree to it. The government has done a lot of things. Now, farmers are getting 7-8 hour of power supply for agricultural works and 24-hour supply is being given to domestic consumers. During the previous Congress regime, there used to be power cuts for 4-6 hours even in Jaipur and for longer period in other parts of the state, but in Vasundhara Raje’s government, there is no power cut. The government has worked seriously during the last six months and you will see the results. No. People are happy with the BJP government in the state and it has been seen and witnessed during the Lok Sabha elections, in which the party won all the 25 parliamentary seats. People voted for Narendra Modi expecting that inflation will come down, but it is going north. Just one month has passed after Modi took oath as PM. He is making all efforts.
