7 years old. Today is Kittys official Bday and Tater Bears - TopicsExpress

7 years old. Today is Kittys official Bday and Tater Bears adopted Bday (he was found stranded, malnourished and in horrible shape). This is how they both came into my life: Kitty was purchased by a young (21) woman. Then asked a woman to sit for her while she went to Vegas. She returned, not wanting her back. That person became my girlfriend of one year from September 2008-2009. We wanted a playmate for her, and since she had already been adopted we decided to look into the Chicago English Bulldog Rescue (CEBR). The process to adopt a bulldog took about 3-4 months. They stopped by to meet Kitty to see what would be a good match for her (shes all alpha female). They would stop by unannounced (just like a human adoption agency), just to make sure I didnt doll her up for the original visit. ;-) Around March of 2009 is when we were told that They have a what they believed would be a good match. I was sent pictures of Tater Bear. He was all head. He weighed about 28-ish pounds when found. (He is 49lbs now, to give you an idea. Imagine yourself at half your ideal weight) He, like many Bulldogs, had health issues. He couldnt keep his food down, he would throw it up and start to re-eat it. Through many different food choices, and also watching for any signs of indigestion, I found food he would keep down. (Kitty is a garbage disposal, eats anything, no problem). The food I had them on for the first year or two also gave them horrendous gas. Im talking clear the room kind. It took a while until I found the best food for them. Its an all meat (no grain) diet called Pure for those interested. No more gas and happy tater bear belly. Meanwhile, things didnt work out with the girlfriend and she moved back to Montana. I didnt hear from her for over a year. Thats when I got the call I want Kitty back. Ok I said. However, Tater Bear and Kitty are so bonded now that there is no way I will separate them, so its both or none. She replied They are just dogs and dont know anything about that!!! Thats when I decided that they stay with me. So, here I am with MY two Bulldogs after 6 years of having Kitty and 5 1/2 with Tater Bear. Ive had so many different dogs in my life.. All wonderful in their own way. With these guys though, theyve been with me through the toughest years of my life. They have seen people come and go, liking some more than others, just like me. They have made some tremendous messes, cost me $20K in vet bills (mostly Tater Bear), blew horrendous gas when having a lady over for dinner (ok, a couple may have been mine but they took the blame like champs). They make me laugh every day. I trust them, they trust me. I will protect them for life and they protect me from the occasional squirrel. If I find a woman who has half the affection, love & devotion you have for me Id be the luckiest man alive. Especially if she licks as well as they do. :-p Dogs are truly mans (& womans) best friends. Happy 7th Birthday to my Bullies!!!!!
