70% Federal Tax Got Collected or Generated in Karachi/Sindh? Muhajirs and Sindhis all time shout and taunt the Punjabis that “Karachi/Sindh earn the money and Punjab eats the money”, “Punjab is grabbing the tax money of Karachi/Sindh”, on a ground of 70% tax collection in Karachi. As the practice of shout and taunt the Punjabis by the Muhajir and Sindhi is continuing in public gatherings, newspapers and media since long but Punjabi politicians, economists, industrialists, intellectuals and journalists never tried to redress the objection or blame. Practice of decades to chant the tax related issue of Karachi/Sindh and ignorance from Punjabi side stimulated the feeling of looting the Sindh by the Punjabis, not only in Sindhis with attitude of hate but in Punjabis also with accepting the fact and the feeling of guilt. However, as a matter of fact, 70% federal tax got collected in Karachi can’t be treated as the income of Sindh, because said amount of tax revenue is collected in Sindh due to the presence of federal tax offices in Karachi but it is not generated by the Sindh. The 70% federal tax got collected in Karachi is generated by all the provinces and the Punjab is the major revenue generator because of major importer and consumer of utility services and commodities. It is the misfortune of Punjab that Punjab has incompetent, inefficient and fragile leadership and suffers is a common Punjabi. Anyway, still it is needed that the question of 70% revenue from Sindh is required to be discussed and clarified between economists, intellectuals and politicians of Sindh and Punjab, because it is a major reason of distrust, disgust and dissociation between Sindh and Punjab. Simply two questions are required to be discussed in detail to clarify the issue of 70% revenue from Sindh; Question: (1)70% revenue from Sindh is generated by Sindh or it got collected in Karachi? Question: (2) if 70% revenue from Sindh got collected in Karachi due to presence of head offices in Karachi, then what is the ratio of Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan and Khyber Pukhtoon Khawa in its generation?
