74-Day New York Jets Warning – Chris Ivory Runs Angry Counting down the 115 days until the New York Jets kick off, with a daily reason to get excited about their return. Mays has the whole NFL to work with, we only have the Goddamn Jets…now there is a challenge, step your game up Mays! We continue today with a look at Chris Ivory running angry (Note, you can track this entire series right here) There is a reason we have incessantly been writing about Chris Ivory on this site since last September as a trade target for the Jets. He runs violently. Our friends at Pro Football Focus said it best, “there is little to no doubt that Ivory is one of the most gifted natural runners in the league.” We couldn’t agree more and don’t say that lightly. Watch this guy at work - After a few years of slowly being plodded to death by Shonn Greene, Ivory is going to provide a refreshing combination of speed, power and elusiveness to the Jets backfield. Behind the Jets offensive line and in a run heavy offense, the potential is there for Ivory to be a 1,400 yard back with a substantially higher yards per carry than Greene provided. Now…there is a reason he was able to be acquired for a 4th round pick and not something more. He has a history of injuries and needs to prove he can carry the load for an entire season as a lead back. There is also questions about his ability to produce on passing downs as a receiver out of the backfield. Regardless, Ivory has the physical talent to be the centerpiece of the Jets offense this season. You want a new jersey to buy this year? Our recommendation is picking up Ivory’s. NEW YORK DAILY NEWS STORY PITCH OF THE DAY - 1,400 words from Gary Myers on the horror of how Mark Sanchez is spending his weekends. Myers managed to get a quote from one of the girls in the linked video after staking out her house for 14 hours. She noted that “Mark is totally chill. Such a fun guy, with that wacky headband of his. He is going to do great this year!” In reaction to the quote and the scene from the past week, Myers states “Sanchez may be chill but chill has never won football games in January. Would Timothy Richard Tebow be chill right now? This columnist thinks not. Tebow may not have a fancy headband and two California beauties to party with but he does have heart and the fiery passion to win at any cost…and that makes him chill in my book. Unfortunately, for the Jets that fiery, gritty, scrappy, intangible laced, heart-filled winner of a quarterback is now up I-95, retrieving the dropped passes when Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett have a long toss. RANDOM JET OF THE DAY – FRED BAXTER! - A 1993 5th round pick of the Jets who played 8 seasons for the team, peaking in 1997 with a 27 catch, 276 yard, 3 touchdown season. In 8 seasons with the Jets, he only caught over 10 passes twice…that’s some quality back up tight end work.
