There are situations that will stiill follow the simple-majority prescription while others considered more crucial to Nigerians will have to scale the higher bar of 75 percent. The latter says it louder than 66 two thirds. Those who preferentially recommended consensus or 75 percent to the president on certain matters did their homework and the prescription should stay. Nigeria does not have to ape the West in everything to forge an ideal pathway to a desired socio-political arrangement. The 75 percent v 66 two thirds controversy is much ado about nothing. The gathering should invest its energies on issues substantive to Nigerians, not fall prey to accidental or deliberate efforts at grandstanding.
