78th World Championship Fiddlers’ Festival Will Be Held, Organizers Say By Lynda Jones Editor-in-Chief As word has spread that the Crockett Area Chamber of Commerce will not host the 78th World Championship Fiddlers’ Festival this year, a group of local residents is taking action to ensure this is one tradition that Crockett does not put in storage. “The World Championship Fiddlers’ Festival will continue,” Charles Arnold firmly declared, on behalf of a group of local residents. The group already is acting to organize the 78th annual World Championship Fiddlers’ Festival, with the date/venue to be announced later, Arnold said. He added that, if possible, the 78th Annual World Championship Fiddlers’ Festival will be held outdoors, in a park, as it was for many years before being moved indoors. Planners intend for the event to be solely the 78th World Championship Fiddlers’ Festival, without the sides (steak cook-off, car show, vendor booths, etc.). They also intend it to be free for the fiddlers and free for the public to attend.
