7th Life (Part 14) Part 1 is posted here... https://facebook/engine.lord/posts/229125233946922 If you dont catch up, this might be confusing. ____________________________________________________ On contact, the giant gorilla-bat let go of Pat and fell into the water. Greg jumped from the cycle and grabbed him. Pat screamed in terror until he realized that he was safe. Kyle’s eyes widened and his mouth hung open in awe. McGreggor pulled a toggle beneath his jacket. The back of his trench coat sprang into a pair of wings. To Kyle, this happened so fast it seemed as though a hand-glider appeared out of thin air. Pat and Greg still descended rather rapidly but they land unharmed in the water by the far-side of the river. Kyle watched the monster slowly sink. A moment later, he looked around to find that he wasn’t the only person doing so. Along the chaotic stretch of highway, vehicles were scattered and shattered. People cried in panic or shouted for help. There were even a few fires. Kyle turned to escape but remembered that Chief was now on the bottom of the Mississippi River. He dropped to his knees and put his face in his hands. Conner was killed by a werewolf, shadows were hunting him and Chief was just sacrificed to stop an enormous gorilla with wings. It was all too much for him to digest. He was a tough guy but not unbreakable. He wept. Sirens snapped him out of his stupor. A thought occurred to him. ‘What if someone saw that he got off of Chief before Greg rammed it into the monster?’ He got to his feet quickly. As much as he wanted to help the suffering crowd, he knew he didn’t have any answers for the authorities. He pictured Alice, the police officer he dated back in Detroit. She was gone. Things were happening too fast for him. He started walking towards the end of the bridge. The best tactic he could manage to distract himself was to keep moving. He had to find Pat and Greg. He was angry at whoever started all of this. Someone was going to pay big time for Conner, Alice and Chief. Pat was gasping for air as Greg pulled him ashore. Greg was quiet and somber. Both of them laid in the dirt for a moment. “We’re… We’re alive!” Pat used his hands to quickly touch the limbs and vitals over his body. “I’m alive.” His eyes were wide with shock. He shook away the confusion and with a foolish grin he kissed the ground. As he lifted his face, a flash of memory startled him. The face of the gigantic beast in his minds’ eye was so vivid he drew back. He turned his attention to the water. He had trouble taking his eyes off of the river ever once he recalled the creature concealed below the surface. “We can’t stay here.” Greg was folding somehow the extra material of his jacket back into it “Where do you suggest we go?” “If we go too far, Kyle won’t be able to find us.” “This seems to be some sort of old train yard.
