8-11-13 Photos from the hull today. Some sea-chest (places where sea water is allowed to enter the ship for cooling purpose or for the fire pumps) will be permanently sealed since they are no longer useful. The fewer holes in a hull the better! One sea-chest is a culprit of sorts. We didn’t know it existed, it was well sealed over by marine growth but when a diver was doing a video of the bottom in January of this years, he poked at the spot because it look unusual and some fluid came out leading some people to believe it was a hole in the hull and thus the hull must be frail. We went with that theory until we examined the hull careful in the area the “hole” was purported to be and found NOTHING! That was a puzzle until we realized that this newly exposed sea chest was the culprit. It apparently goes nowhere inside the ship, long ago disabled in a remote area near the shaft. It doesn’t seem to serve a purpose and it will be sealed as well. They “alarmists” shouting “the sky is falling” though “what a danger Comanche was” since it must “surely be ready to sink” are once again proven 100% WRONG! …though I am sure they still consider themselves “experts”! They created a lot of consternation and trouble for us and all unnecessarily and no doubt contributed to the Tacoma crowd’s paranoia leading to our explusion! At least that “mystery” got solved! Thanks you Stabbert Maritime for getting Comanche up there! And no, we are not interested in returning to Tacoma!
