8/23 - The first time I heard the K.I.S.S. acronym was as a teenager (it has nothing to do with a well-known rock band - for those unfamiliar with the acronym :) ) Jesus Christ, used short and simple teachings when speaking with the crowd. He spoke powerful truths with short illustrations or parables. His words gave hope to the helpless, encouragement to the downhearted, freedom to the captives and conviction to the lost. The religious leaders, with their many years of training and all of their book knowledge were unable to refute His teachings or respond to His questions. One of the classic keeping it short/simple responses of Jesus was when He responded to the question of whether or not people should pay taxes. Jesus asked for a coin and after looking at the face on the coin said Give unto Caesar, what is Caesars, and to God, what is Gods. Luke 20:26 shows the response of the religious leaders to this simple response: And they were unable to catch Him in a saying in the presence of the people; and being amazed at His answer, they became silent.
