8.27.14 JESUS AND ME Ephesians 1:22 22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. I was recently asked about a statement I made concerning the role Jesus had assigned to His church: to rule and reign here on earth. Many church members are unaware of this responsibility God has assigned to the church (i.e. every born again believer). The truth is we are the visible incarnation of Jesus to be seen and heard by the world. We are, in and of ourselves, incapable of fulfilling this task without Power from on High! Make no mistake Jesus is the head and the Church which responds to the directions of the Head. Paul states we, the church, are the fulness of Jesus - who fills ALL IN ALL! Does this truth not call our attention to the need to step up to the Plate? If we are the presence of Christs body intended to reign with Him - being the leaven that changes the environment we touch, we NEED TO APPROACH LIFE DIFFERENTLY THAN WE HAVE IN THE PAST! In Acts 9:5 when Saul (later to become Paul) was pursecuting the church Jesus literally knocked him off his high horse and struck him blind causing Saul to ask the question: Who are you Lord? Jesus answer is most telling! “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting... Yet the context is clear it was the church that was under attack! Jesus was declaring there is no distinction between Himself and His body - the Church! He did NOT say I am Jesus whose people / children / favored ones you are persecuting. He clearly declared you are attacking Me! Understanding this difference CHANGES EVERYTHING! You carry the very presence of Jesus in you! His resurrected power and His very own Spirit lives in you for the purpose of His glory! Meditate on this AMAZING Fact.
