8/5/14 - When Keith returned from his MRI visit, we got a really good update from his outstanding nurse. It took longer in the MRI than expected. He would not lie still long enough to get a good a good image. They pumped him full of Versaid but still would not stop moving. Had to use a paralytic. Ran a fever again through the night but is currently down. Right after this update, Keiths Trauma Attending came in and believes that he has meningitis. I made the concerned face, and she immediately assured us that this was totally treatable. She does not have the actual culture back, but they are treating him for meningitis anyway. She also believes that this explains why his has not woke up yet and the reason for the fever. Too early for the MRI results, but the Dr. said that she would come see us as soon as she has a report. After this update, we were informed that ophthalmology would be over today to dilate his eyes. They are concerned that he may have no vision in his left eye. Keith had a dirt bike accident back in 2009 that damaged the retina in his left eye. Elecia is working and have all of his medical records sent over from the retinologist that he saw at that time. It may be that the eye was already damaged and this pushed it over the edge. Next in line was the face guys. I cant spell Oro Maxillo Facial whatever, so I just call then the face guys. They have decided to piggy back onto the trach and peg surgery scheduled for tomorrow and fix his facial fractures. He will have his jaw wired shut for the next 6 weeks. I dont think that I have left anything out, but if I did, I will provide an update later today. We believe that all of these are mostly good reports. We pray that God will continue to heal. Again, thank you is just 2 simple words that just cant express the way we feel to all of you that have provided for us in this time of need and continued to pray faithfully for his recovery.
