8/6/2014 Please SHARE, REPOST one more time with more detailed info below (I promise not to ask again after this) especially with any Idaho located friends. LOST DOG in Challis National Forest in Challis Idaho. REWARD German Shorthaired Pointer, very old and skinny. Has a bump above her left eye, and several on her stomach. She is chipped and had her collar on when she got lost. She is hard of hearing and her sight is going as well, but her nose is good. She is all liver (chocolate) and ticked, no big white spots like some pointers. She has been trail running and hiking with my husband for 14 years and is very athletic and spry despite her age of 14 years. On Friday 8/1/2014 she got lost on this route below on the map because she kept going, while he stayed put for a half hour to let the younger dogs rest on the way down the mountain. She evidently didnt hear him call her back. This is not abnormal behavior, but she always checks back in with him periodically. On a scale of 1-10, while steep, this was only a 2 of difficulty and a less than two hour hike total. We think her lack of hearing kept her from finding him again and she likely panicked and got disoriented. If she hit any roads though, she would have followed them out. We have left notices and our contact info with every neighbor and person we encountered on the way back from the cabin to the town of Challis. We were staying at Rams Horn Ranch. Here is a short link to the GPS location of the cabin: goo.gl/maps/k0Y8q It was near Meyers Cove and near the Middle Fork Outfitters Main Ranch in the Challis National Forest off Silver Creek Road near Rams Creek. If she is found on a road it will likely be Silver Creek Road that she was able to get too. It is possible she made it to Panther Creek Road as well, she is pretty athletic.
