8 August 2014 Renewal of Rocket Fire at Israel [Updated till 10:30 Israel Time] 1. Israel agreed to Egypt’s call to extend the 72-hour ceasefire, which was scheduled to last until 08:00 Israel time, Friday, 8 August. Hamas and Islamic Jihad, in a number of statements made since last night, announced that they would not extend the ceasefire. 2. Early this morning, shortly before 04:30, two rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip. Beginning at 08:01, rocket barrages were launched from Gaza and so far, 20 rockets had been fired at southern Israel. Two of them were intercepted by Iron Dome and two fell short inside the Gaza Strip. 3. As of 10:30, there has been no Israeli military response. 4. Israel reserves the right to respond in self-defense.
