No doubt the same feeling shared by all those young men signing up to go to war 100 years ago. That is why I am playing my part in carrying The Wreath of Respect. It is possible that only soldiers, ex-soldiers and bikers understand this bond, and the need to show solidarity. The Wreath will be presented to The Captain of the ship, Heysham on Monday is the Ben-My-Chree and the ship on Tue to Liverpool is the Manannan. When the Wreath Arrives on the Isle of Man, Brian Corrie and Team we will collect the wreath from the ship on Mon 15.45 and take it to St Thomas Church and the Rev Ian Brady where they have a Royal Artillery Association chapel of remembrance. The wreath will then be collected on Tue at 12.30 and taken to the grandstand for a 1pm set off round the course and back to the grandstand, from there via the War Memorial to the Victoria pier where the wreath will be handed over to the ship’s Captain at 3pm for onward travel to Liverpool. End of day 4 arrive Liverpool docks from Isle of Man. At 1915 hrs. Leaving dock complex could be 30 mins after boat docks. Not too clear where boat docks at the port so leave the dock complex by... turning right onto the A5036 Strand Street. ( More details to follow) Continue along A5036 Strand Street past other docks including Albert dock and Kings Dock. Continue into Parliament Street and straight across traffic lights crossing A5038. Take second left after lights into Hope Street. At cross roads turn left into Upper Duke Street. Take next left again into Cathedral Gate. Arrived at Cathedral 10 -15 mins after leaving docks. The Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire will be in attaendance and the service will be conducted by Fr Paul Miles-Knight. There will be a service, blessing, followed by the Last Post and 2 minutes silence. The Wreath will then be laid to rest for one hour before it is entrusted to the staff at the National Memorial Arboretum for its future.
