8 year old Oscar is a beautiful boy and a special one too! He has beta thalassemia major and is listed with Madison Adoption Associates via an orphanage partnership. The photos and new videos were taken just a few weeks ago. Madisons staff have met him numerous times. I talked to Aleda Madison, the director of Madison, on the phone the other day about Oscar. She told me: Out of all the kids she has met (and she has met MANY), she has 3 boys who are her favorites. She calls them her babies. Oscar is one of them! She wants him to find a family so badly- she just loves him! She told me that he is so sweet and a very nice boy. She said he has great personality and makes great eye contact. He does repeat everything that is said in English like a little parrot. He is just a little sponge and is inquisitive and wants to learn English. She said he has a lot of friends and lives with a foster brother who he is so sweet to. They could not get the foster brother to open up so Oscar came over and sat down with him to help. Here are NEW VIDEOS of him. Note that his name tag says Kieran- he got the wrong one! vimeo/album/2543751/video/91440796 vimeo/album/2543751/video/91440411 *This one shows that he is all boy...reminds me so much of my boys around his age! vimeo/album/2543751/video/91440407 Password: Adoptmaa From his last update: Oscar is small for his age, but has no trouble keeping up with other kids. He is active and outgoing, and attends school where he gets average grades. He likes to sing and his speech is clear and articulate. He lives with a foster family, gets along well with other children, and has a healthy appetite. He demonstrated his ability to count all the way to 100, to write his name and to draw pictures of rabbits, which he called his friends. He has a charming and infectious smile. Madison staff have met him and he stood out to them- theyd really like him to find a family soon so he can get home before his 9th birthday and to get the medical care he so desperately needs. Great resources for his special need are: choosingthalassemia.blogspot and specialneedsadoption.rainbowkids/Thalassemia.aspx *I have a son with this very same special need and would be happy to be a resource as well! It is very manageable and basically entails a couple days a month visiting the hospital for labs and a transfusion (one long day every approximately 3 weeks) and a daily medication. He can do everything any other boy his age can do and he has no limitations. It really sounds a lot scarier than it is. There is an older video of Oscar here: vimeo/78492930 Password: Adoptmaa This great blog post by a friend of mine makes me think of Oscar who is still waiting for a forever family to choose him so he can have his chance and be somebodys gift and blessing. Lets find him a family so he doesnt lose his chance like some of the children featured in this must read post: itsamercifullife.blogspot/2014/03/chances.html For more info or to review Oscars file, please fill out a free PAP- waiting child review form, which can be found here: madisonadoption/docs/Prospective%20Adoptive%20Parents%20-%20WC%20Form.pdf
