8 years ago today Rebecca became a Saints fan. A Who-Dat. We hadnt been dating for a real long time. We were watching the game. The Saints. Returning to the dome for the first time in over a year after Katrina. Playing our biggest rival, the Atlanta Falcons. I left work early so that I could go by Popeyes and get chicken and feel a little less like I was 1500 miles away from where I wanted to be. Falcons went three and out and then this happened. I flew off the couch! Pumping my fists and screaming for about 2 minutes about how nobody was going to come into the Dome and beat us. Not that night. My language was colorful and it was quite a release after a year of playing 16 road games and knowing that much of my hometown was still in ruins. When I turned around Rebecca was staring at me with a look that equal parts humor and fear. She said simply, I will never root against the Saints. And thats all it takes. The Who Dat Nation welcomed another into the fold. :)
