800 employees of JK cements without salaries Production, profit falls: Officials Managing Director managed Darbar move order and flees to Jammu Employees appeal Governor to intervene Srinagar Dec, 12 (KNS): For the first time in 40 years due to the collapse of production and revenue in Jammu and Kashmir cements Ltd, around eight hundred employees of the corporation are without salaries from one and half month. The corporation was once the only profitable Public Sector undertaking in the State. According to the employees around eight hundred employees of the corporation Friday staged a massive protest demonstration in the premises of the Plant, situated at Khrew against the Managing Director and other higher officials for their approach towards the release of salaries. “The current management has made this corporation a hub of corruption. Around eight hundred poor employees including the laboures are without salaries from last one and a half month, one of the employee wished anonymity told KNS. He said that the corporation, which year after year has been witnessing decline in the production of cement, has been on other hand recruiting blue-eyed candidates thus further adding to its burden. He also revealed that the plant has witnessed collapse in the production and revenue for the year 2013-14 compared to 2011-12-13 and blamed wrong polices and mismanagement of the current authorities for the downfall. “Managing Director hardly visits the plant and prefers to stay at Jammu from last one month. During the past 40 years the Managing Director used to stay here in Kashmir but we were shocked when the present Managing Director Rekesh Sharma managed a move order for him and some other officials. From last one month we never saw the MD coming to the plant,” he said and added that what was shocking is that the order was signed by the Managing Director himself not by the authorities. He said that the plant has two units. Though the individual cement production capacity of each plant is 600 ton but the overall production has gone down by around 80 percent with the wrong policies of the Managing Director. Another insider wished anonymity told KNS that although the company faced so many ups and downs from past many years but the present situation is very worrying. “The employees are very worried and feel their future unsure .Wrong policies wrong decisions, , embezzlement, by the present Managing Director is the reasons for its failure,” he said and added that the present Managing Director is enjoying his Jammu office and is not addressing the real problem of the plant,”. The Insiders of the corporation appealed governor to intervene into the matter as early as possible so that thousands of families are not adversely affected. “Company is on the verge of end due to wrong policies adopted by state government from last couple of years. Despite the government should have concentrated on the bad situation of the plant situated at krew, few years back they, constructed another plant in Samba in the name of latest technology but the latest technology was limited to papers only and practically the story is reverse, as the plant has not commissioned properly yet after crossing five deadlines, “one of the employee said. Despite repeated attempts the Managing Director was not available for comments. His private secretary however said that (Sahb ji is in his Jammu office) and cannot talk this time.KNS
