See his speech below: My dear supporters, After consulting my kindred, villagers, friends, family, relations, well-wishers, my friends abroad . . . I have decided to leave the Nigeria-February-14-2015, Presidential race for General Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR. I am now supporting General Buhari and wish that all my fans, supporters and well-wishers should do so. This announcement is followed after an intensive 4-hour closed door meeting with the leadership of APC in Lagos last night. In the meeting were: General Buhari, Prof. Osinbajo, Bola Tinubu, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu . . . and other APC Chieftains. I have been a personal friend of General Buhari, and I believe in his passion for a better Nigeria. He is a man of culture, character, integrity, dignity and truthfulness. I believe that he has all it takes to lead Nigeria to where we belong to. I am impressed by his road-map to guarantee Security, boost the Economy, create employment, provide steady electricity, fight corruption . . . Though I know that I would have won this presidential election with the overwhelming support that I have gotten through my rallies across the federation, I have decided to sacrifice this for a better Nigeria . . . Thanks to all my supporters and it would please me that they re-channel their support for me to General Buhari and Prof. Osinbajo. I know that my supporters would be hurt and unhappy and shocked, but I have placed national interest above any other thing, and believe that the #BuhariOsinbajo ticket is what would help Nigeria right now.
